Every single day women who are daughters, mothers, and grandmothers right here in the state of Michigan are being threatened by an intimate partner. So many of them are suffering from abuse, and grappling with ways they can overcome this terrible situation. To make matters worse, the women who are living in this nightmare situation have become invisible to the rest of us. They have become a casualty of our indifference, a victim of the silence of the majority, and a result of a system that has failed to protect them.
The time has come for us to step up and speak out! Statistics indicate that the number of people suffering abuse and violence inside their own homes has significantly increased due to the lockdowns.
With this campaign, we hope to raise support for FirstStep and make sure justice is served for victims of violent and domestic crimes. We also hope to empower victims to break the cycle of abuse, help them realize their role in this world, and give them opportunities and the support needed to thrive!
