May 2, 2019 – Livonia, Michigan –The 20th annual Passport to Safety is the largest safety event in the United States for children ages toddler up to 13 years, that focuses on health and safety education in a fun and safe environment. Saturday June 8, 2019 Livonia Police and Fire Stations Farmington Road, South of Five Mile 10 am – 2 pm The event is co-founded by the Livonia Police/Fire Departments and Allstate Insurance Agency owner Cheryl Bowker of Livonia and sponsored by Alpha USA, St. Mary Mercy Hospital, Michigan State Police and several other local organizations. “The idea for Passport to Safety materialized from a desire to get involved in the Livonia community,” said Bowker. “We focus on safety and kids because our agency serves so many families; we want to give back to the community by increasing safety knowledge.” Keeping the kids in our communities SAFE is a top priority. They are faced with internet predators and social media concerns, as well as physical safety in the water, on their bikes and in their homes. Kids will visit 11 different stations including first aid, choking and poisons, fire safety, water safety and 911 training. The day also features K-9 and Jaws of Life demonstrations, food, raffle drawings, prizes, free bike helmets and live entertainment by Rock Out Fit Crew, who will be onstage with demonstrations of each passport station. Bowker added, “The event is very successful, having grown from a small event in a mall to what it is today, with thousands of participants covering the campus of the police and fire departments. This is the largest child safety event in the nation.” No registration necessary. For more information visit www.livoniapassporttosafety.com.

Our Passport to Safety event was another huge success this year, thanks to our sponsors, our great volunteers, and of course, Mother Nature! Over 600 bike helmets were given away, and most importantly kids got safety lessons on everything from CPR to internet safety. Kids learned how to create a safe route out of their homes in case of a fire, how to talk effectively with a 911 operator, navigated a bike safety course, and learned the proper way to secure a life vest. Hundreds of kids and families across the Detroit metro area enjoyed food, entertainment, raffle prizes, an oversized sprinkler, and visits with the McGruff the Crime Dog and Click-it the Cricket. Thanks again to everyone who came out for the day, volunteered their time and supported the event through sponsoring a booth and giveaways.
