Enhancing the Lives of Those with Disabilities

Over 61 million Americans live with some form of disability, which translates into 1 in 4 adults. Many disabled people face difficulties acquiring gainful employment, interacting in social settings, and taking part in activities that you and I take for granted.

The Living and Learning Enrichment Center is committed to enhancing the lives of those with disabilities and their families with therapeutic, social, work-based, and community engagement.

Rachelle Vartanian is the founder of Living & Learning and launched the nonprofit after her son was diagnosed with autism. “I took a leap of faith and quit my job after being a special education teacher for 20 years,” explains Rachelle. “I sold my home, drew money from my retirement, and downsized my life to allow Living & Learning to be born.”

The Center now offers a broad range of training, skill-building, and employment assistance programs to support, inspire, and embolden participants with disabilities to achieve their goals. Recently, Living & Learning was nominated for three “Best Of” awards from HOUR Detroit Magazine.

We want to help Rachelle in her mission to improve lives for families living with disabilities, and we hope you do too. For every referral you send to our agency, we will donate $10 in your name to the Living & Learning Center. We will also enter you into our monthly and annual drawings for gift cards and an iPad. Our goal is to raise $1,000 in much-needed support for the Center, so please join us!
